I am back in lovely cool Melbourne after a week in beautiful but sweltering Sydney for the design and decoration/furniture trade fairs. Apparently the week before I arrived it was rather cool in Sydney but of course we were fortunate enough to arrive in time for a summer heat wave and some of the hottest weather the city had had for 50 years (every day 40 degrees or more and nights in high 20s)! But it didn’t actually make a fabulous week any less fabulous! It was great being back in Sydney - I went to uni/met and married husband there, so it’s a city that holds a lot of happy memories for me. My baby girl and I stayed with my sister in her inner-city apartment and had a blast - lot of pics to follow here as I sort through them! The following pics are from the design fair (no photos allowed but I got permission for these few). You can probably imagine the type of heaven this place was - gorgeous fabrics and furniture in every direction - I managed with effort to restrain myself from buying up big! I saw so many things that I can’t wait to have an excuse to use.
Of course everything in these photos is for sale to the trade so please contact me if you see anything you like!

So Pretty

Wow! What a fab time you had. Wish I could have been your assistant on the trip. What a talented family. I notice a painting by your Mum, in your sisters apartment very similar to one in your home. I can see your sister has a flair also, or was that your doing? Both very different, but I guess that is a good thing, wouldn’t want everyone to be the same as US. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience and pics with us. I really enjoy reading your blogs. Keep up the great work.
Wow! Sounds like an inspiring week. The lamps and jars with the Moroccan tile pattern are gorgeous!
oh, how fun! i see lots of grays, blues and greens, and orangey colors. what colors were you seeing predominantly in fabrics and accessories?
Kristie I actually thought longingly of your recent post on the snow in your yard when I was sweltering in that Sydney heat! In terms of colours, there were a lot of ‘naturals’ around and I noticed quite a bit of pink and yellow in fabrics and rugs. I lost count of the number of times I said ‘ooh that would be so good for a girls’ room’!
