Who doesn’t love a bit of ikat in a room? There are so many gorgeous patterns and colours around. I love the blue on blue accented by green above - I just used an ikat from Madeline Weinrib (my fave ikat source!) identical to the blue one above in a room for a client.
I’ve been drooling over this blue room (above) for ages - the double-sided couch, the blue lacquered walls, touch of ikat and accents of pale pink and black have me smitten.
I love pics like the one above that show you a glimpse of somebody’s house, not just an arrangement of furniture in one room. Love how the blue is carried though the house - the blue ikat on the chairs ties in with the lampshade and the tolix stool in the kitchen - and the black-and-white is repeated too. I always get so inspired by pics like this one!
What a great mix of styles (above)! There’s a little bit of traditional - chesterfield sofa, classic wing chair with nailhead trim; a bit of ‘Nanna’ florals, mixed with modern and quirky - the moroccan pouffe, sleek coffee table, ikat and the octopus prints. I like this room because it would be easy to re-create at home. Start with a sisal rug, paint all your furniture white, upholster one chair in a bold colour and add some ikat cushions in a contrasting colour, and you’re basically there!
I have long had an obsession with blue libraries. Read about it here. So this media room/library goes straight into the file for my future dream home!
