Feeling Inspired!

I’ve just been visiting a great blog, Plain & Fancy Living, and came across some fabulous images of Christmas decorating that are so inspiring! This is the home of designer Meredith Heron as featured on HGTV Canada:

What a beautiful room! Love the palette of neutrals, pinks, greys and pale purple. Of course the trellis fabric on the chairs is a favourite! The wall of pictures and the baubles on the silver platter look fantastic.

A fabric story

A story about this ubiquitous (I still love it) fabric:

Did I mention that bargain shopping is hit-and-miss? I received some fabric today that I purchased from an online end-of-stock warehouse where you can get some real bargains:

Even though with my new decorating business I have access to gorgeous fabrics at trade prices (yay!), this fabric was only $12 a metre (it’s close to ten times that retail!) and I have used the same fabric in other colourways in the past so I took a risk and bought it. To me it looks like a pale-ish denim blue with a hint of turqoise (right?). I was picturing a revamp of my living room by using the fabric to recover these:

And then using Chiang Mai fabric for these:

And then pulling out more of the denim blue, the coral and dark blue colours in other cushions and accessories. Or maybe I’d do green and coral/orange instead and use the Kelly Wearstler Imperial Trellis cushions I have in the cupboard:

Then I saw this image which is another version of what I was picturing:

Or, I thought I could use my new bargain fabric with the blue colourway of Chiang Mai Dragon:

Like these clever girls have done:

The above images are from Style and Grace blog; I love the white and blue scheme, the natural rug and the white ginger jar behind the sofa (am a sucker for ginger jars).

I love the geometric blue rug and the coordinating lamps - and the Imperial Trellis fabric in blue!

Anyway, this has all been going on in my mind until today, when the fabric arrived and it’s completely different to the photos, much darker and much more green:

So, it’s back to the drawing board! I could return it but it’s still a nice fabric so I might keep it just in case…
