A little of my week

Well school holidays start at the end of next week so this week and next are jam-packed full with installations and attempting to finalising projects. I’ve been keeping busy over the past few days hanging curtains, taking delivery of furniture and lamps, dropping fabrics off at workrooms and arranging lots and lots of cushions! This is the part I love most, of course, seeing the fabrics come together, styling rooms and seeing happy clients- so much fun!

In another lovely client’s house this wallpaper (above) is going up this weekend. I can’t wait to see how it looks and then to start moving everything else into the room!

On another note, my house-hunting obsession continues, but at the moment I can’t get away from the idea of buying a weekender house (or possibly even a permanent house one day..?) somewhere in country Victoria. Last night I dragged out my ‘inspiration’ files from 5+ years ago and it seems I am once again drawn to the things that inspired me back then. Funny how things come around in circle isn’t it? In particular I was really into traditional and cosy English-style country houses, like Stuart Rattle’s weekender in Victoria:

The house was featured in various magazines around that time and I have them all in a folder, just waiting to come out years later and inspire me! (I wish I had a good scanner so I could share all the pictures) The house is a restored former school house and it’s decorated in those classic English colours: rich red, cream for the kitchen, pale salmon pink for the entry hall and pale sagey green for the dining room. I posted a picture a couple of days ago that captured my country-home fantasies, and this house does the same thing. In fact I have folders of similar houses, mainly from English Homes & Gardens magazine from years ago, which I remember ogling for hours at the time..

And while I’m on the topic of English-inspired decorating, I saw this fabric yesterday:

I also saw this new paisley wool fabric which I fell in love with and which I am determined to use soon!

That’s my mid-week wrap up, hope you’re having a great week x

What a beautiful weekender. Reminiscent of that beautiful one at Woodend I once showed you. They are a wonderful idea, if you use them, that’s always the tricky part. Hope you get all your jobs done and enjoy the school holidays with your family.
