I am off to look at white fabrics so I am thinking about whites today. This pic reminds me of a house I have been working on: same fireplace and mantel (which we had painted from dark mahogany timber to stark white like this), same floor board colour (which we had stained from the previous yellow pine), same rug and, as of yesterday, same satin chrome door knobs (which replaced old black traditional ones). The cabinetry is similar to what we are having built, too.
I just love this mix of the contemporary new and older bits and pieces – I really feel a house is not a home without vignettes on surfaces and a little bit of ‘clutter’ (or lots in my case)! I recently bought a white leather pouffe like the one above from wonderful online store Table Tonic for my daughter’s room – they come in lots of gorgeous other colours.
We are all praying that today’s expected ‘king tide’ in Brisbane doesn’t hit with full force – the images of damage and the task of cleaning up that we see just blow your mind, and I feel so much for the people affected.
