Things I saw today that I liked

Yes, you’ve probably seen this house before (I posted pics of the kitchen here, the entry way here and the pink living room here), but I love this view from the pink room through to the dark grey kitchen.

I am a serious sucker for simple iron windows and doors. This view to a leafy garden and pool and the tall iron framed door is my idea of heaven!! On this topic have you seen the latest issue of Vogue Living? This house is my latest favourite, and it too features iron doors at the back looking onto the garden:

It’s a stunning house, and went straight to the ‘home build inspiration file’!

This pale room of whites and greys also really appeals- linen slip covers, an incredible fireplace and even some attractive grey birch logs to decorate the grate. I’m intrigued to know what’s up that hint of staircase to the right though..

Fun and fabulous blocks of bright colour! Raspberry and lime truly has a lot of punch as a colour scheme! I love this too.

Vintage Whites and Taupe (Country Living)

Posted in neutrals, white

Today I bought the latest issue of Country Living magazine (Feb 2011) and boy has it got my inspiration going. It’s the ‘White’ issue and is so full of gorgeous white rooms. When I first opened my copy I was having such an audible reaction to it (lots of oh wow!/oh i love it!etc.) – my husband thinks I am crazy – he just doesn’t get it!

While I don’t like everything in a room to be ‘shabby’, I absolutely love a mix of vintage vases, candlesticks, linens etc with newer bits and pieces, and some mercury glass and old gilt thrown in too. Plus, when you love these things it makes antique and junk shopping fun, because you can keep adding to your cellection! Don’t all these neutral and white-hued things look gorgeous together:

I couldn’t find the images from the current mag onthe website but here is a little peek (below two pics). The house in the top right corner is beyond lovely – all taupe and white upholstery, displays of white and silver, mixed with shells, piles of old white suitcases and collections of vinatge white-framed mirrors.

This image (above) is from the same issue, taken in a house in San Francisco - what a beautiful window!

Is it ok to show Christmas displays when it’s not Christmas time? I think so. I love the shades of white and pale grey.
