Carolyn's new house Part 3
I’ll sign off for the working week with a shot of Madeline Weinrib’s lovely blue-filled bedroom. I love the mis-matched shades of blue and the mix of the casual – white-painted brick walls and simple curtain – with the ritzy – gilt, antiques and the gorgeous chandelier. The best bit? The spiral staircase leading who knows where.. A private rooftop terrace for breakfasting perhaps?

As I was coming home from some fabric and furniture shopping today I stopped at a couple of secondhand shops that I used to go to all the time when I lived across town. My 4 year-old son has been trained well, and spotted a couple of little paintings in the corner that I actually liked ($6 each). So I have quite a little collection of paintings at home that need a home on a wall somewhere. One of these days I’d like to change things around and create a few more ‘picture walls’ like this one (above – sorry source unknown). I love them against the blue wall here.
I’m off to Sydney tomorrow for the design and decoration trade fairs. This is my first time and I’m excited to see what kinds of ideas and inspiration I will come away with. Not sure if I’ll be able to blog while away so if I can’t, have a great week all!
Well no sooner do I finish posting today about Ashley Putnam’s (nee Haley) gorgeous decorating, that I read the latest issue of Lonny (the April/May 2010 issue – yes I know I am shamefully behind the times), only to find that it features her new home. And I have to say, it’s even more beautiful than the last one. I am just so in love with the mix of styles, the art displays everywhere, and the blue dining rom! It’s been a long time since I have seen a house this inspiring, that I just want to sit and analyse every detail. Take a look at this amazing house:
