I have been drooling over the wonderful paintings of interiors by artist Kate Lewis, when I came across this masculine room (above). It looked familiar, and sure enough, when I looked through my files I found this room by Nate Berkus:
I think it’s the perfect stylish ‘man’s room’, using great ‘man’s colours’: black and white, earthy neutrals and olive greens. (The rug must be Madeline Weinrib but of course Ikea does a great rip-off of this one). Also, the industrial textures like steel shelving and natural elements like driftwood, framed specimens (can’t make out what sort) and tortoise shell make it feel like a boys’ den all grown up!
Be sure to check out the rest of Kate Lewis’ work – it’s gorgeous. I haven’t dared to ask prices yet, but there is plenty on her website that I’d love!

hi naomi! this is a belated thank you for featuring my work on your blog!!! i’m honored
Hi Kate! No problem, thanks for stopping by, love love love your paintings!
a man’s space doesn’t have to be ugly, now does it? great room (and great art).
LOVE her work. In fact I even posted about it recently. The image above may actually be my favorite because it does put a more masculine room in her lovely, ethereal context. I had no idea it was a Nate Berkus interior – thanks for the insight.
