I think a modern french kitchen would be my ideal too. Laminate is great - we put in a white laminate benchtop- against all advice - in a previous home and it was so easy to clean, hardwearing and looked fantastic! :) Lucky you to have a chef husband! Though if I had my own way (and the money) it would have had more character. More like a modern French kitchen. However my husband won out on most things as he's a chef so I let him have a little more sway. We have a HUGE kitchen bench so we could only afford laminate. As much as we wanted marble; I'm happy to say that it actually looks fantastic. :) I adore the top kitchen! I love my modern kitchen.
