Architecture and Mood

I’m off to look at furniture for a client today but wanted to quickly show you this house I’ve been ogling – I love it.

Architecture and mood are the two things that stand out for me in this beautiful home. The architecture of the rooms – moulding details, bay windows, ornate ceiling, arched doorways – is my dream come true. When the building is this stunning, you don’t need to add a lot in terms of decoration. In fact, to go overboard with pattern or cushions (my weakness I admit), would be to detract from the beauty that’s inherent in the space.

The other thing that grabs me is the mood of the space. The palette of greys and greeny-blues, lack of pattern or bright colour, and the simplicity of the decoration to me is soothing, sophisticated and subtly masculine. What do you think of the chunky rope coffee table? It acts as a form of sculpture and adds texture- it’s great but I think I’d prefer a simple iron and timber brickmaker’s coffee table – but that’s just me! My favourite thing is the water painting – it’s so beautiful and echoes the lines of the sofa in front.

Love that tan leather Danish armchair!

Classic thistle wallpaper and simple grey upholstered chairs let the modern painting and light fixture do the talking! Have a great Friday! x

This is a beautiful home! Not sure about the rope in the table but it does add texture. Thanks for sharing!

Yes please. I also love this home. What a dream. I love the way they have some lovely rustic pieces along side some more glamorous ones. Just enough and not too much clutter which I am guilty of. Thanks for sharing your great pics and thoughts with us.
