I’m appreciating the little things today, the little decorating details that lift your heart and make you smile. I once read an interview with a decorator who said that she tried to have as many horizontal surfaces in her house as possible, because they present opportunities to display, arrange, re-arrange, and to truly ‘decorate’. I never tire of arrangements , or vignettes, on tabletops and shelves. To me it’s the details; books, lamps, vases, ornaments, flowers, that make a room beautiful, that in my own home make me smile when I walk past, and that truly turn a house into a home.

This is a beautiful collection of ‘vignettes’. It’s true what they say about beauty being in the detail of things. Lovely.
